The conference “Accessible and inclusive practices in instructed Second Language acquisition” (ASLA) aims to explore inclusive and accessible practices within the area of instructed second language acquisition. Generally speaking, accessible education may be defined as the process of designing and delivering courses to encounter the comprehensive needs of all learners: people from a range of different backgrounds, with different capabilities, cognitive characteristics, learning times, styles, and motivations (Harmer 2015; Pomarolli 2021; Smith 2021). In short, this means ensuring a “high-quality educational response for all students” (Moriña 2017: 3). Accessible education, furthermore, cuts across all aspects of education: physical and technological infrastructures, instructional modes, teaching strategies, learning materials, and assessment; additionally, the successful implementation of a consistent inclusion system requires instructors to be equipped with the appropriate knowledge, training and experience so that they can meet the varying needs of a range of learners (Malinina 2022).
